Angelina Jolie, original name Angelina
Jolie Voight, (born on June 4, 1975, Los Angeles, California, U.S.), American
actor and director renowned for her sexiness and edginess as well as for her
charitable work. Jolie was awarded an Academy Award for her supporting part as
a mentally ill patient in Girl, Interrupted (1999).Jolie, daughter of actor Jon
Voight, spent much of her youth in New York before relocating to Los Angeles at
age 11. After attending the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute for two years
ago, she enrolled at Beverly Hills High School. Later, she studied drama at New
York University. In addition to acting in theatre productions, she performed as
a model and in music videos.Jolie's first big movie part was in Hackers (1995),
during the filming process, she met her first husband, British actor Jonny Lee
Miller (married 1996; divorced 1999). The film was not able to attract an
audience, and neither did the subsequent films. Jolie, who played the role of
governor's wife of Alabama's segregationist governor, received much attention
in 1997. The following year, she was awarded an award called the Golden Globe
Award. The following year , she portrayed an ultramodel who was who was
struggling with addiction issues in the HBO film Gia which earned her multiple
honours, including an award of a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
Following her Oscar-winning performance in Girl, Interrupted, Jolie was in
Pushing Tin, a comedy with John Cusack, Billy Bob Thornton, and in 2003 she got
divorced. She played the girlfriend of carjackers (Nicolas Cage) in Gone in
Sixty Seconds (2000) and later took on a British accent and mastered street
fighting and kickboxing for the main roles in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001)
and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (2003). She played the role of
Alexander's mother in Oliver Stone's Alexander (2004) and played alongside Jude
Law and Gwyneth Paltrow in Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow (a sci-fi
thriller set in 1930s New York City). Both films were box office
disappointments however, Jolie had a smash in Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005)
in which she portrayed an assassin who was disguised as a typical housewife.
While working on the film, she came across Brad Pitt, who became her partner.
